Leading Light Behavioral Health is pleased to introduce our new Medical Director, Dr. Alphonso Brown, who has joined our esteemed team. Dr. Brown brings a wealth of expertise to our organization. He holds the title of Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and serves as a distinguished GI (Gastroenterology) specialist at Cambridge Health Alliance, a prestigious Harvard Teaching Hospital.

Dr. Brown, MD MS Clin Epi, boasts a multifaceted professional background. Notably, he is a Gastroenterologist, Addiction Specialist, and accomplished Clinical Researcher. Beyond his academic and medical roles, Dr. Brown is also the director of New Beginning Health PC, a specialized addiction services clinic. This clinic employs state-of-the-art holistic therapies to aid patients in their recovery journey from drug addiction, with a particular emphasis on Medication Assisted Therapy for those combating opioid addiction. Dr. Brown has even pioneered one of the pioneering protocols for safely weaning patients off Suboxone, should they choose to discontinue therapy.

Dr. Brown’s professional pursuits encompass a wide range of disciplines, including Gastroenterology, Addiction Medicine, and Medical Education. His clinical experience spans an impressive 30 years since graduating cum laude from Harvard Medical School. Additionally, Dr. Brown plays a pivotal role as a co-director in an academic course where he imparts his knowledge and skills in endoscopic procedures to surgical trainees at one of Harvard’s renowned Teaching Hospitals.

Furthermore, Dr. Brown holds a Master’s Degree in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from the esteemed University of Pennsylvania, further enhancing his research capabilities. His outstanding contributions to the medical field have garnered him numerous accolades, such as The Harvard Medical School Deans Community Service Award and The Boston Business Journal Champions in Health Care Award.
